from Edit, through final POST, to delivery...

The Edit is Brighton’s longest established post production facility attracting clients from as far as BBC Scotland. Creativity, experience and a commitment to clients' needs help us successfully deliver to all the major channels.

The Edit is run by ex-BBC Dave Austin, who has twenty years of broadcast experience. Our outstanding team are on hand to see your project through the whole editing and post production and delivery process.

We produce arts documentaries for world-wide cinema release. Our films may be on huge screens in front of 2000 people - there is nowhere to hide. I need to be confident that everything is spot on and The Edit always gives me that confidence.

People we've worked with

The Edit deliver TV programmes, films and feature documentaries to all of the major broadcasters and for cinema. Our equipment is fast and powerful and we have a talented, experienced team who will see your project through the entire process.

I’ve been working The Edit for ten years. They have a great eye for detail, and an ear for sound and music. The Edit are collaborative and creative and you know your project is in safe hands. They have all the talent and professionalism of Soho Post Production, by the sea in Brighton.

We run Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere in all of our offline editing suites. Avid Nexis shared storage gives editors the seamless, fast collaboration needed for large projects with tight deadlines. Our suites are spacious, light and comfortable so they are the ideal place for a long edit.

The Edit's talented colourists have many decades of experience and will treat your film with care, working with you to achieve a beautiful look. Our Davinci Resolve suite has virtually unlimited levels of colour correction, incredible tracking, keying and noise reduction. We're compatible with all editing software and can handle 4K and UHD. (Symphony grading is also available)

Everything passes through technical review and automated quality control (Eyeball/AQC) and is compliant with tight broadcaster specifications (DPP, EBU-R128, PSE/Harding etc). We can deliver digitally via Signiant Media Shuttle or master to tape.

We have a critical eye for technical detail. We online with Avid Symphony Nitris DX, Premiere or FCP.  We not only pride ourselves on being able to spot the slightest technical issue, but more importantly: being able to fix it.

Our exceptional dubbing mixers work on Pro Tools HD in 5.1 surround or stereo. The team have access to an enormous sound effects library covering practically any track-laying or sound design need. Our large, custom-built audio suite boasts stunning 5.1 Neumann monitoring, making it the perfect setting for those all important final viewings.

We believe a combination of preparation, technical skill and experience help voice-over sessions go smoothly. Our booth is comfortable, ventilated and has line-of-sight to the artist. We record to picture, directly onto the Pro Tools HD timeline. Audio can be uploaded anywhere, moments after the session. For more details see our voice over page.

We are proud to work with acclaimed film-makers on a diverse range of projects,
from primetime TV programmes and commercials, to exclusive cinema releases.
